Spain’s main airport, handling more then 40 travellers per year, Madrid Barajas Airport is just 13km nort east of the city centre.
Travelling between the airport and city centre is very easy whether by road or by train. The Madrid metro takes you directly from the city to the entrance of Terminal 2 and the road system has been greatly improved recently meaning that travelling to the city takes only half an hour (outwith rush hour).
Metro - Line 8 will take you from the airport to Nuevos Ministerios in just 12 minutes and from there you take a connecting train to your final destination. The metro will cost around 1 euro for your trip.
Bus & Taxi - The bus takes you directly to Plaza de Colon but can often encounter delays due to heavy traffic. Taxis encounter the same problems but the benefit of arriving directly at your hotel often outweighs this. Official taxis are white with a red stripe and a metered trip to the city centre should cost around 30 euros plus the airport supplement of just over 5 euros.
